Syrian and Qatari interior ministers discussed stronger security cooperation during talks in Damascus on Thursday, October 15, according to statements reported by Syria TV.

Syrian Interior Minister Anas Khattab received Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani at Tishreen Palace. Syria’s Interior Ministry said the meeting covered shared concerns and ways to develop cooperation between the two ministries in support of security and stability.

Senior Syrian police and security officials attended the talks.

In a post on X, the Qatari minister said the discussions addressed security cooperation, coordination and exchanges of expertise. He linked the visit to Qatar’s support for Syria and the relationship between the two countries.

The meeting followed talks earlier in October in Doha between Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani and Qatar’s prime minister and foreign minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani. Those discussions covered bilateral ties, regional developments and closer consultation on shared issues.
