Syrian security forces dismantled several criminal and ISIS-linked cells and arrested five wanted suspects during an operation in the city of al-Sanamayn in northern Daraa countryside on Thursday, according to the Interior Ministry. Interior Ministry spokesman Noureddine al-Baba said the operation uncovered coordination between criminal groups and cells linked to ISIS. He said the five suspects arrested during the operation would be referred to the relevant judicial authorities. Internal Security forces remained deployed across al-Sanamayn to secure the city and maintain stability, while authorities lifted a security cordon imposed on several neighborhoods that had witnessed clashes as the operation moved into a new phase. Al-Baba said protecting civilians remained a priority for security forces throughout the operation. The operation followed deadly clashes earlier Thursday, when three Internal Security personnel were killed and several others wounded while attempting to arrest wanted suspects in al-Sanamayn. Field sources said an Internal Security patrol raided a house where several wanted men were believed to be hiding but came under heavy gunfire from several positions around the building. The three personnel killed were identified as Mustafa Saad al-Din, Salloum al-Masalma and Nael al-Safadi, according to the Horan Free League. Security forces subsequently deployed reinforcements across al-Sanamayn and continued pursuing members of the group and others suspected of involvement in the attack.
