Authorities reopened the Deir Ezzor–Damascus highway Friday under an escorted-convoy system after floods forced its closure the previous evening, Syria's state news agency SANA reported.
The Internal Security Command said two highway patrols would accompany each convoy, one at the front and another at the rear. Drivers must stay with the group, follow instructions and avoid overtaking.
The road from Deir Ezzor to Raqqa also reopened, but only for light vehicles.
In a separate Friday update, emergency official Youssef Azzo told SANA that teams carried out more than 300 operations on October 28–29, responding to over 450 requests for help. Fifty people were rescued and about 42 stranded vehicles assisted.
Rescue crews also cleared debris, reopened roads and pumped water from buildings and streets.
