Emergency crews continued rescue operations across Syria on Thursday, October 29, as flooding damaged roads, power lines and communications networks.

In an evening update carried by SANA, the Emergency and Disaster Management Ministry reported five deaths, including four children, and five missing people. It said Civil Defense teams had rescued 25 people in Raqqa, Deir Ezzor and Homs. Searches were continuing.

Syria TV later reported a child’s body had been recovered in Manbij and that rescuers were searching for another child in eastern Aleppo. It was not clear how those reports related to the ministry’s earlier tally.

Syria TV also reported that flooding had completely blocked the Palmyra–Deir Ezzor road at al-Huraybshah. The local electricity company said storm damage had cut power to Abu Khashab and Jarwan.

Idlib authorities mobilized service departments to clear drains and roads and assist residents. Officials urged travelers to avoid flooded roads and waterways.
