Syria's Health Ministry laid the foundation stone Monday for a $2.7 million continuing medical education center in Hama, with construction expected to take about six months, SANA reported.

The project is being implemented by the Association for Charitable Works and Social Care, with health-sector support from Saudi Arabia's King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center.

Mohammad al-Sharif, the provincial executive official responsible for health, said the facility would contain nine training halls and serve medical staff from across Syria.

Yasser Abdulrazzaq, the center's deputy head, said the three-story building would include simulation rooms and facilities for surgical training.
