The restart of the drinking-water station in Madan, east of Raqqa, has been postponed because heavy rain and flooding increased turbidity in the Euphrates River, local authorities said Friday.

Raqqa's media directorate said water-quality measurements would be repeated Saturday evening to determine whether the pumps could restart, Syria TV reported, citing the directorate's Telegram statement.

The decision will depend on turbidity falling to suitable levels, the directorate said. It described the delay as a precaution to protect the quality of drinking water supplied to residents.

The report gave no confirmed time for water pumping to resume.
