Syria's National Commission for Transitional Justice opened a recovery center in Homs on Thursday, October 29, with support from the Global Survivors Fund, according to a commission statement reported by Syria TV.

The commission described it as the first center of its kind in Syria. It said the facility would help coordinate services for victims and survivors of abuses through cooperation with public institutions, partners and donors.

Officials toured the center and reviewed its proposed services and operating arrangements. The commission said the project forms part of a broader effort to make survivors' needs central to transitional justice work.

The opening follows a cooperation memorandum with the Center for Victims of Torture focused on technical expertise, psychosocial support and institutional capacity.
