An olive festival opened in Idlib on Sunday with 52 exhibition pavilions representing five Syrian provinces, state news agency SANA reported on Monday.

The event runs through Nov. 3 at the city’s Cultural Center. Participants come from Idlib, Hama, Homs, Latakia and Tartous and include agricultural agencies, cooperatives and private companies.

Displays feature olive oil, olive-derived products, seedlings and other rural goods. Agriculture Director Mustafa Muwahad said the festival aims to improve product quality and marketing opportunities.

Governor Mohammed Abdel Rahman said efforts to revive olive cultivation include distributing seedlings and planting trees in rural areas. He described the festival as larger in scope than last year’s exhibition, which focused on olive oil.
