Iraq has agreed to facilitate entry visas for qualifying Syrian traders who obtain recommendation letters from the Union of Syrian Chambers of Commerce, the union said Monday.

The arrangements cover traders in the excellent, first and second commercial categories, according to SANA's Arabic report and Syria TV.

Anas al-Bou, who heads the union's Joint Foreign Relations Committee, told SANA that the measure followed efforts to ease obstacles facing Syrian businesses and improve their access to overseas markets.

The union asked local chambers to inform eligible members and coordinate the recommendation letters needed to complete visa applications.

Al-Bou described the decision as a practical outcome of economic discussions between the two countries.
