A construction and energy exhibition bringing together 150 companies from 12 countries opened in Damascus on Monday, with officials seeking partnerships for Syria's reconstruction, SANA reported.

Project Syria 2026 runs through Nov. 5 at the Damascus fairgrounds. Its program includes a conference, business-to-business meetings and activities aimed at young professionals.

Deputy Public Works and Housing Minister Wahid Obeid said the ministry wanted private-sector partnerships that could bring financing, technical expertise and training for Syrian workers.

At the opening, UNICEF's deputy representative in Syria, Lawrence Oundo, said the agency was working with the government to rehabilitate 200 schools by the end of the year at a cost of $20 million. He said 256 health centers had been rehabilitated at a cost of $24 million.

The exhibition is being held in halls 25 and 26, with opening hours from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m., according to SANA. Its focus includes building technologies, construction, energy and investment opportunities.
