Syria's finance ministry and a World Bank delegation discussed attracting private investment into infrastructure and preparing reconstruction projects for financing, state news agency SANA reported on Thursday, October 29.

Finance Minister Mohammed Yisr Barnieh met the delegation in Damascus to review legal and institutional arrangements for public-private partnerships, according to a ministry statement cited by SANA.

The talks covered a planned partnership unit within the ministry, priority projects and the assessment of fiscal risks. Officials also considered combining public and private funding.

A subsequent workshop brought together several ministries to discuss how to prioritize infrastructure investments and prepare projects for potential financing. The report described discussions and preparation, rather than an announced funding commitment.
