Syria's Education Ministry has issued a decision simplifying the recognition of non-Syrian certificates for employment, state news agency SANA reported Monday.
The measure provides for a single equivalency recognized by public and private bodies, with the stated aim of reducing administrative burdens on applicants.
The ministry said certificates recognized under the decision could be used for work in public bodies and for practicing independent professions in Syria while checks on their authenticity are completed.
Recognition would be invalidated if a certificate proved inauthentic, and legal action would follow, the ministry said.
The decision concerns the Education Ministry's certificate-recognition procedures. It does not announce automatic recognition of foreign university degrees.
