Syria launched a project on Sunday to digitize business registration and commercial records, state news agency SANA reported.
The initiative was developed by the Ministry of Industry, Internal Trade and Consumer Protection and the U.S. Department of State, working with Creative Associates International, according to SANA.
At the launch in Damascus, ministry technology official Muhannad al-Naser said the work would connect central services with provincial directorates and improve commercial oversight and consumer protection systems.
The project is intended to shorten registration procedures for Syrian and foreign companies and make records easier to retrieve. The report did not specify a completion date or say that the new system was already available nationwide.
