Syria's finance minister has set a six-month target for implementing recommendations discussed with an International Monetary Fund mission, including changes to economic forecasting and budget planning, according to the Finance Ministry.
Mohammed Yisr Barnieh chaired the mission's closing session in Damascus. The discussions covered a medium-term fiscal framework, closer coordination between government institutions and the inclusion of fiscal risks in the budget process, SANA reported Friday.
Officials also examined monitoring of public debt, deficits and spending, improvements to financial reporting, and technical training for ministry staff.
Barnieh welcomed publication of the mission's report after its review is completed. The account did not announce a new IMF loan or financing agreement.
