Syria’s Emergency and Disaster Management Ministry warned Tuesday of heavy thunderstorms and strong winds expected in Hasakah and northern Raqqa from Thursday evening through Saturday evening, Syria TV reported.
The forecast places particular emphasis on northern and eastern Hasakah. The ministry urged residents to avoid valleys, low-lying areas and attempts to cross flowing water.
Its early-warning department also advised securing tents and loose objects, avoiding damaged walls during strong winds and driving cautiously on wet roads.
The warning comes after recent floods damaged roads, bridges and farmland across eastern and northeastern Syria. It concerns a forecast weather system, not a report that new flooding has already begun.
