Syrian Civil Defense has warned that heavy rain and floods can carry landmines and unexploded ammunition into areas previously considered relatively safe, Syria TV reported Monday.

The service said explosive remnants could be displaced from known contaminated sites by floodwaters, increasing risks for civilians in affected areas.

It urged people not to approach, touch or move suspicious objects, to leave the immediate area and warn others nearby, and to notify Civil Defense or the relevant Defense Ministry authorities.

The warning follows heavy rainfall and flooding across several Syrian provinces. It is a general safety alert and does not identify a newly confirmed contaminated location.
