Deir Ezzor National Hospital has opened an MRI unit, with Health Minister Musab al-Ali saying it is ready to receive patients, SANA reported. The equipment was funded through the Deir al-Ezz donation campaign and contributions from residents.
Al-Ali said 12 health centres across the province were due to open during the following week. A blood bank in Mayadin was ready to open, while the facility in Abu Kamal needed about another 10 days of preparation.
The minister also said the hospital’s maxillofacial surgery department was ready for opening. Officials said expanding local specialist care would reduce the need to refer patients outside Deir Ezzor.
The opening on Friday accompanied a Syrian-French medical conference and specialist surgery programme at the hospital.
