Germany has issued no new travel warning specifically for Syria, its chargé d'affaires in Damascus said, while the existing warning against travel to the country remains in place.

Markus Heiken told SANA that a recent German Foreign Office update concerned regional developments and did not change Syria-specific guidance. His remarks were reported Friday.

The ministry's official advisory, checked Friday, continues to warn against travel to Syria and says consular assistance inside the country is extremely limited. Its latest changes concern the regional security situation and editorial updates.

The clarification therefore does not amount to a withdrawal of Germany's existing travel warning.
