One civilian died and 22 others were injured in road accidents and fires across Syria on Wednesday, October 14, according to Civil Defence figures reported by Syria TV the following day.
It said 17 road accidents killed one person and injured 21. Responders gave first aid, took the injured to hospitals and cleared and secured crash sites.
A further civilian was injured in 35 fires, which also caused material damage. The incidents affected homes, shops, vegetation, rubbish sites and electrical wiring.
Firefighters extinguished the blazes and cooled and secured the affected areas to reduce the risk of flames returning.
Civil Defence urged drivers to slow down, check their brakes and windscreen wipers, and avoid mobile phones or other distractions behind the wheel.
It also warned against lighting fires in woodland and farmland, discarding cigarettes or glass beside roads, and burning dry vegetation around homes. Residents were urged to clear dry grass using safer methods.
