Syria’s chargé d’affaires in Japan, Abdul Wahab al-Mohammad Agha, met Japanese lawmaker Hirotaka Ishikawa on Tuesday to discuss parliamentary cooperation, SANA reported, citing the Syrian Embassy.

The meeting in Tokyo focused on communication between the two countries’ parliamentary institutions and their broader bilateral relations.

The talks followed an Oct. 21 meeting in Damascus between Syrian Foreign Ministry official Saad Baroud and Japan’s chargé d’affaires, Shuntaro Nitsu, on cooperation and Japan’s role in recovery and reconstruction.

No new aid package or formal parliamentary agreement was announced in the report.
