The Syrian People's Assembly's Media Committee discussed access to government information and media legislation with more than 23 directors of ministry and public-body media offices, state news agency SANA reported Monday.

The meeting, chaired by Muyad Qablawi, examined how government offices provide information to media outlets, transparency standards and the time taken to respond to information requests.

Participants also discussed communication during crises and coordination of media policy across government bodies, according to an Assembly statement cited by SANA.

The talks followed discussions in October with the Information Ministry on information flows and the relationship between media legislation and government practice. No new legislation or binding response deadline was announced in the report.
