Syria’s Table Tennis Federation is changing player and coach registration arrangements and planning further technical training as it seeks to strengthen the sport, its president told SANA.
Mohamed Zelal al-Moallem said the federation had released registration records and eased transfer restrictions, replacing arrangements that could tie players and coaches to clubs for five years with a one-year period for movement between clubs.
He also outlined plans to classify clubs, identify promising players in Syria and abroad, and improve training for coaches and referees.
The federation cited limited funding, few overseas training opportunities and a shortage of specialist coaches as obstacles. Its plans aim to expand regular participation in international competition.
