UNHCR in Jordan has expanded cash support for registered Syrian refugees who choose to return permanently to Syria, adding a transport payment of 355 Jordanian dinars per family.
The agency’s official guidance, updated for the Oct. 15 expansion, confirms a one-time payment of 70 dinars for each returning person with active registration. Eligible households can also receive a one-time 210-dinar vulnerability payment.
The additional support covers specified needs already recorded in UNHCR’s database, including disability, serious illness, single caregivers and qualifying large families. All payments depend on available funding.
Applications begin through UNHCR’s helpline, 064008000, during working hours, Sunday to Thursday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The agency confirms eligibility during the process and says all services are free.
UNHCR stresses that return must be a free, informed choice. Recipients are required to leave within 15 days of the money transfer, and their Jordan registration file is closed once their return is confirmed.
